AWS Key Management Service (KMS): AWS KMS
is a fully managed service that simplifies the creation and control of encryption keys used to secure your data. We utilize AWS KMS
to protect the private keys associated with your wallet, ensuring they remain confidential and are accessible only to authorized entities.
Key Features of AWS KMS
:
AWS KMS
allows for centralized key management, streamlining the process of key creation, rotation, and retirement. Secure Storage: Private keys are securely stored in the AWS KMS
service, safeguarding them from unauthorized access. Granular Access Control: Implement fine-grained access controls to determine who can use and manage keys, adding an extra layer of security. Hardware Security Modules (HSMs
): HSMs
are dedicated hardware devices designed to manage and safeguard cryptographic keys. By integrating HSMs
into our security infrastructure, we add an additional layer of protection to your private keys, making it significantly harder for malicious actors to compromise the integrity of your wallet.
Key Features of HSM Security: HSMs
are physically designed to resist tampering, making it extremely difficult for attackers to gain unauthorized access or manipulate the device. Secure Key Operations: Critical cryptographic operations, such as signing transactions, are performed within the secure environment of the HSM, preventing exposure of sensitive data. Key Generation and Storage: HSMs
are responsible for the generation and secure storage of cryptographic keys, ensuring the highest level of confidentiality. Transaction Signing: When it comes to signing transactions, AWS KMS
and HSMs
work in harmony. The private key never leaves the secure environment of the HSM, ensuring that the signing process is not susceptible to external threats.
Combining AWS KMS
and HSMs
provides end-to-end security, from the storage of private keys to the execution of cryptographic operations. Scalability: As your wallet and transaction volume grow, our security infrastructure scales seamlessly to meet the increased demand. Compliance: Leveraging AWS KMS
and HSMs
helps meet regulatory compliance requirements by providing a secure and auditable key management solution.
Enhancing the security of your digital assets, our TRAM Connect app introduces a unique Three-Part Private Key Security feature. This innovative approach divides the private key into three distinct parts, each stored in a separate location—on the server, on the user's device, and in the user's email. This multi-layered security strategy ensures that even if one part is compromised, the complete private key remains protected.
Key Components:
Server-Side Component:
Part two of the private key resides on the user's device.
Email-Based Component:
Secure Assembly: The private key is only complete when two of three components are brought together. The TRAM Connect app orchestrates the assembly of these parts during critical operations, such as transaction signing, ensuring that the complete private key is never exposed or stored in a single location.
Benefits:
By dividing the private key into three parts across different locations, we mitigate the risk associated with a single point of failure. Even if one part is compromised, the full private key remains secure.
Users have direct control over a significant portion of their private key stored on their devices, instilling a sense of ownership and trust in the security of their digital assets.
